FLIGHT LOG #12 The Belt is Open — Alpha 5.3.0 is Live

Published on 7/10/2026

Dear Pilots,
Something big just launched. Alpha 5.3.0 is live, and with it comes the feature many of you have been waiting for:

Active Asteroid Mining Flip & Burn

This is not just a new activity — it is the foundation of an entirely new type of gameplay in Zero-G. We call them Active Instances: real-time multiplayer zones where you and your crew must be present, engaged, and working together to get things done. No autopilot. No passive rewards. Just you, your ships, and the Belt.

⛏️ ASTEROID MINING CLUSTERS

Somewhere in the Asteroid Belt, rich mining clusters are waiting to be found. To reach them you will need the right equipment, the right crew, and a bit of skill. The process unfolds in three steps:

Step 1 — Hunt

Deploy Space Mining Probes from your Cargo Panel to scan the Belt and detect cluster locations. Check the tier — Low, Medium, High, Very High, or Exceptional — and intercept the one you want.

Step 2 — Explore

Inside the instance, fly through the asteroids manually using Flip & Burn (WASD / arrow keys). Scan the most promising ones with Graphene or the new Exotic Scanning Dust to reveal their contents. Twenty new Compounds are now available in the Belt — rare materials that will feed directly into the Synthesis crafting system.

Step 3 — Mine

Equip your Mining Laser Crystals, get within sensor range of your target asteroid, and fire. Fragments will fill your cargo. Transfer loads between ships in space, bring in a Trucker, and haul your findings back to base.

We know this system has a few moving parts, so we made a complete step-by-step video guide covering everything from ship setup to your first extraction. 👉 Watch the Asteroid Mining Tutorial on YouTube Youtube - Asteroid Mining Tutorial

🚀 WHAT ELSE IS NEW IN 5.3

Instance visibility — Mining Instances are now visible to all players within sensor range of any ship in your fleet, or within range of any Planetary Sensor Array (PSAR)
Ceres PSAR online — The Vatican Starbase has installed a powerful 50M km range sensor array on Ceres. Base there for a major exploration advantage
Instance Info Cards — Click any instance icon on the map for a full details card and direct Intercept button
Cargo transfer fix — Fixed a bug preventing cargo transfer between more than 2 ships in the same instance. Ships must be close — watch for the green proximity circles

🛸 COMING SOON: TEREBRA ALPHA

A new ship is under design specifically for asteroid mining: the Terebra Alpha. A reinforced cargo vessel equipped with 4 powerful short-range laser cannons — built for the Belt. It will be released with the July Expedition.

📦 20 NEW COMPOUNDS

Extracted directly from asteroids, these new Feedstock materials are the building blocks of the Synthesis crafting system arriving in Alpha 5.4 and 5.5. You can already find and sell them — or hold onto them for crafting. Find them in the Feedstock category at any General Store.

WHAT'S NEXT

Alpha 5.4 brings the Blueprint System — the design documents that will let you craft everything from components to ships to base modules. The full crafting chain — Refining → Synthesis → Printing → Assembly — is taking shape release by release. And somewhere out there, the aliens are watching what we are doing in the Belt. Enjoy the peace while it lasts. 🙂

We are now at 1,430+ registered pilots, 11,900+ missions completed.

Fly fast. Fight together. Build something that lasts.
